Notice of Lawsuit Filed Against J-POWER

Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. ("J-POWER") hereby gives notice that City of
Hakodate announced that it filed a lawsuit against the government and J-POWER on April 3,
2014.
J-POWER is currently constructing the Ohma Nuclear Power Plant in Ohma-machi, Shimokita-gun, Aomori Prefecture. To gain the understanding of City of Hakodate, J-POWER has been providing information and briefings regarding the construction of the power plant. Unfortunately, however, the city initiated legal action against both the government and J-POWER and has sought an injunction against J-POWER to halt construction and operation of the power plant.
We believe that the Ohma Nuclear Power Plant will play an important role in Japan in its position as a stable source of electric power supply, in responding to the demand for low carbon energy sources, and in the nuclear fuel cycle, etc. J-POWER is wholly committed to building a safe power plant by steadily implementing safety measures not only taking into account the New Regulatory Requirements of the Nuclear Regulation Authority but also based on the latest knowledge.
As of today J-POWER has not received service of the complaint but intends to study the details carefully upon receipt and to assert the Company's view through the court including the significance and safety of its Ohma nuclear power project.
