Suspension of Operation of No. 2 Unit at Tachibanawan Thermal Power Station
Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, 'J-POWER') confirmed an increase in the volume of makeup water to the steam boiler of the No. 2 unit of the Tachibanawan Thermal Power Station (location: Anan City, Tokushima Prefecture, output: 1,050MW) during rated operation. Afterwards J-POWER investigated and checked the situation while monitoring the operating conditions. Due to a suspected steam leak inside the boiler, J-POWER decided that an inspection and repairs were necessary and suspended operation at 4:30 pm on October 19, 2015.
J-POWER is currently preparing for an internal inspection of the boiler and intends to undertake necessary repairs and other measures based on the results. As of the present, expected date of resumption of operation is uncertain.
