Elekta (STO:EKTAB) will showcase the latest version of its treatment planning software, Monaco® version 5.11 (http://www.elekta.com/monaco) at the 58th American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) Meeting taking place from July 31 - August 4 in Washington DC. Monaco 5.11, which enables users to attain calculation speeds up to four times faster than previous versions, is cloud capable and is currently installed at several customer sites. Monaco continues to utilize multicriteria optimization and Monte Carlo dose calculations for high-quality dependable treatment planning results.

Monaco templates further increase efficiency by allowing users to easily import and export treatment plans, facilitating best practice sharing across departments and organizations. The ability to create multiple prescription plans simultaneously reduces overall planning time as well. Improved data sharing creates opportunities to optimize individual treatment plans.

“Elekta’s Versa HD linear accelerator (http://www.versahd.com/) and Monaco treatment planning system combine unrivalled dose delivery and intelligent dose planning,” says Elekta’s David Mellenberg, PhD, DABR. “The efficiency and precision of Versa HD are enhanced when combined with the Multicriteria Optimization and Gold Standard Monte Carlo calculations in Monaco 5.11. Together, they make dynamic and stereotactic techniques not only possible, but routine practice.”

“We successfully installed Monaco 5.11 at our large center, which treats more than 250 patients daily across two campuses,” says Miller MacPherson, PhD, FCCPM, Head of Physics at The Ottawa Hospital. “VMAT planning is fast and our physics team was able to generate really solid beam models. As a result, we are seeing improvements in IMRT and VMAT QA. We are very pleased with the support we received from Elekta and proud of our physics and planning teams’ accomplishments and hard work transitioning from XiO® to Monaco.”

In addition to Monaco 5.11, the following solutions also will be highlighted at the Elekta booth (#2017):

· The latest version of MOSAIQ®, which provides numerous workflow enhancements including IQ Scripts Plan of the Day, ePrescribing for controlled substances and many other time saving features

· Leksell Gamma Knife® Icon™ (http://www.careforthebrain.com/), the most accurate brain radiosurgery system offering novel technology including true stereotactic CBCT and online adaptive planning capability

· iView Dose software, Elekta’s EPID-based in vivo dosimetry solution, which offers an essential safety check during radiation therapy

· AQUA, a quality management system which offers a full suite of workflow-oriented machine QA tasks

· MOSAIQ Oncology Analytics (https://www.elekta.com/software-solutions/knowledge-management/mosaiq-oncology-analytics/), which aggregates data to bring clinical, operational and financial insights to the surface

Educational events

During AAPM, Elekta will host a series of educational events at the Marriott Marquis Washington DC. A User Meeting focusing on commissioning and planning for stereotactic radiation therapy will take place Saturday, July 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and a luncheon symposium focusing on emerging techniques including MR-guided radiation therapy will take place Monday, August 1 from noon to 1 p.m.
