Public Invited to Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony  FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Dec. 31, 2014 - After a year of renovation and expansion work, Sterling House and Clare Bridge Fort Collins is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the scope of services now available there, including a new specialized care program that seeks to slow the progression of Alzheimer's for people in its early stages. The event, which is open to the public, takes place from 3 to 6 p.m., Thursday, January 15.

Called Clare Bridge Crossings, the early-stage dementia care program was developed from research that shows consistent mental, physical and social engagement can delay the advance of Alzheimer's. In adding staffing and 24 apartments to accommodate Clare Bridge Crossings residents, the campus has widened its dementia care offerings; its Clare Bridge program already served people whose Alzheimer's has progressed beyond the initial phase.

Assisted living services have also expanded with the addition of 17 new apartments at Sterling House, which cares for people who need a helping hand with bathing, dressing, mobility, dining and other activities of daily life. Renovations have been made throughout all buildings, which are now connected.

"We are excited about helping people in the beginning stages of Alzheimer's disease and their families through the new Clare Bridge Crossings program," said Kristen Vasquez, executive director of Sterling House and Clare Bridge Fort Collins. "Linking all of our community buildings is also an important step that demonstrates we offer a campus of care to meet a spectrum of senior needs."
