du hosts CIO Forums highlighting the business impact of
social media and cloud
Dubai, UAE: As part of its Leadership Series, du recently
hosted renowned technology innovator and thought leader, JP
Rangaswami, at two round table forums attended by CIO/CXOs
from the UAE's banking, media and information,
communication and technology (ICT) sectors. The round
tables were held at the One & Only, The Palm, Dubai.
JP Rangaswami, considered to be one of technology's most
influential individuals (silicon.com Agenda Setters poll,
2007 and 2008), and one of the most influential 'digital
powerbrokers' (Wired Magazine's Wired 100, 2010),
previously Chief Scientist at BT and currently
Chief Scientist for salesforce.com as well as Chairman of
Ribbit, addressed the invited CIO/CXOs on the Business
Impact of Social Media and Cloud.
During his discussion, he revealed the impact of new
disruptive technologies on business, especially in the
banking, media and information, and ICT industries. An open
dialogue followed the address.
"Social media and cloud computing are not a technology
revolution - they are the evolution of technology.
Sometimes our job is to look at things with a different
perspective, which is what new technology has allowed us to
do. We are now able to predict what the customer will do
before they do it, allowing for better planning and a
deeper knowledge than ever before," said JP
Rangaswami.
John Loomis, Managing Director; Chief Operating Officer;
Head of Operations, Administration and IT at Gulf
International Bank, moderated the events.
"Our CIO/CXO round tables have proved to be a great
success, bringing together business leaders and giving them
uninhibited access to one of the greatest technology minds
of our time, JP Rangaswami. We would like to thank him for
his knowledgeable insight, and look forward to hosting
further sessions as part of our Leadership Series in the
near future," said Farid Faraidooni, Chief Commercial
Officer, du.
du's Leadership Series is designed to create interactive,
thought-inspiring events for business leaders in the UAE.
The CIO forums have been constructed to provide insight
into the latest trends affecting not just the
telecommunications industry, but technology-focused sectors
as a whole.
In addition to providing an informative, informal
discussion ground with thought leaders such as JP
Ragnaswami, the forums present the opportunity for
bridge-building amongst peers and open dialogue to discuss
the issues affecting their industries.
Other events under du's Leadership Series include the
annual CEO Forum (the third edition of which was held in
May 2012), and the Customer Advisory Board (CAB) sessions.
