du was presented with an Excellence in GIS Implementation (EGI) Award during the GISWORX 2015 Gala Dinner, held on the second day of the conference, Wednesday, April 22 at the Al Bustan Rotana Hotel, Dubai. This is the third time that du has been nominated for this prestigious award in recognition of its implementation and development of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), within the company's operational ecosystem.

GISWORX 2015 Awards are bestowed upon organizations that foster innovation and experimentation in the area of GIS implementation, and to honor outstanding GIS implementation programs.

During GISWORX 2015, du exhibited its GIS solutions, with the aim of becoming the regional platform providing the foundation for GIS to be leveraged, not only within network planning, but across commercial marketing, sales and business analytics where there is a need to reference location-based information and process geo-spatial data. In addition, Bilal Ghazi, Manager, Systems Engineer (OSS), du, delivered a technical presentation and user workshop for GIS enthusiasts during the conference.

With the adoption of cloud based satellite imagery and street maps, du has upgraded its GIS platform to a virtualized environment accompanied by the latest ESRI-GIS product release. The new GIS map publishing platform has already been deployed as part of an initiative within the Fixed National Launch program. du's IT teams have deployed and demonstrated map driven interactive analytical engines and are now in the process of creating solutions based on these tests to support consumer marketing and indirect channels to drive location based outbound marketing.

The award was presented to du after a review by the independent EGI Award Committee, as part of GISWORX 2015, the tenth annual GIS Workshops & Exhibitions for Geographic Information Systems users and professionals. The award was received by Emad Shafik Vice President - Systems Engineering , accompanied by his team Khurram Durrani Senior Director - Systems Engineering and Bilal Ghazi, Manager - Systems Engineer.
