As a testament to its efforts to continuously provide secure solutions to all its customers, du's Information Technology Department has been awarded the prestigious ISO 27001:2013 Certification, the best-known standard in the family providing requirements for an Information Security Management System (ISMS). The certificate was presented to du's Chief Operations Officer Farid Faraidooni by Basem Obaid, Area General Manager, India Middle East and South East Europe, Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Ltd, during the awards ceremony at du headquarters in Dubai Media City. Other attendees at the event included Walid Kamal, Senior Vice President, Information Technology, du, Ibrahim Jebai, Sr. Director IT Governance, du, Rawan AlAlool, Manager Process and Performance Manager, du, and Ayman Ktaily, Marketing and Sales Manager, Lloyd's Register.

Congratulating his assembled colleagues at the event, Farid Faraidooni said: "As we continue to expand our client base and launch new services, it's crucial that we do not overlook the security element. Customers are always looking for increased assurance over the integrity and protection of their personal information, mobile activities, conversations, and billing details. We're proud to have achieved this independent certification, as it demonstrates our level of commitment to implementing the tightest security controls, and the emphasis we place on the confidentiality and security of our clients' electronic data."

The ISO 27001:2013 is designed to ensure the selection of adequate and proportionate security controls that protect information assets and give confidence to interested parties. The ISMS enables du to continue deploying safe working practices that are well established, and reduce risks to information and its protection through its standard processes and policy frameworks.

"With this certification, we are keen to further enhance the quality and efficiency of our processes and continue to provide reliable, secure, best-in-class solutions and services that are in line with our customer needs and expectations," he added.

Commenting on this achievement, Kamal, said: "Today is a proud moment for all of us at du, and this certificate is a genuine validation of our commitment to establishing customer trust and creating the best customer experience through our well maintained and secured technology models and services. I'm also proud to say that achieving this certification is an example of excellent cross functional collaboration and joint efforts that were demonstrated by the Information Technology and Technology and Security Risk Management teams."

ISO 27001:2013 is an international standard prepared to provide a model for establishing, implementing, operating, monitoring, reviewing, maintaining and improving an ISMS. The governing principle behind ISMS is that an organisation should design, implement and maintain a coherent set of processes and systems to manage risks to its information assets, thus ensuring acceptable levels of information security, usually summarised as confidentiality, integrity and availability.
