Dubai, UAE: Speaking at a panel organised by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority during GITEX 2014, Saleem Al Balooshi, Executive Vice President - Network Development & Operations, du, highlighted the critical role that du's infrastructure is playing to drive economic activity in the region.

Al Balooshi said: "In today's digitised world, we are playing a critical role in the development of the UAE as a global hub in terms of fostering innovation, entrepreneurship and driving economic activity. Our dynamic approach to building a state-of-the-art fixed and mobile broadband framework has played a key role in building the interoperable, secure, infrastructural backbone of the country. These key elements will ultimately contribute to a connected future."

Speaking on du's role in enabling the Smart government, Al Balooshi said: "Telecommunication is no longer confined to playing the role of an enabler. In today's digitised world, the discussion is about mobility and solutions and the role that the telco sector will play in bringing about a transformation of the industry, not just horizontally but vertically."

This is in line with du's role as part of the National Trusted Services Manager (NTSM) Committee. The success of the committee will be driven by collaboration with multiple partners and engagement of relevant ecosystems that will foster the growth of the UAE in the future. It is this shared vision of the future that du, along with the NTSM, seeks to achieve.
