EMIS increased its share of the GP clinical systems market in 2013 to 53 per cent (5,232 GP practices) - up from 51.2 per cent in 2012.

Figures released by EMIS Groupon 20 March 2014 show that the number of GP practices using the EMIS Web healthcare system doubled during the year, with a total of 3,327 using the system at 31 December 2013. That has since increased to a total of 3,453 practices currently installed with EMIS Web.

All GP practices in England that are not yet using EMIS Web have either placed an order or are already using the familiarisation service. The balance of installations in England is expected throughout 2014.

EMIS Web is also gaining momentum in the community, children's and mental health (CCMH) sectors; the software is now used in at least 205 clinical settings beyond primary care. New contracts for EMIS Web in these sectors include:

  • Bromley Healthcare, which has moved from RiO to EMIS Web to support the delivery of community services to 350,000 people;
  • the East London urgent care centre, which helps prevent unnecessary admissions to Newham Hospital A&E department, caring for over 70,000 patients a year.

Visits to www.patient.co.uk - EMIS Group's health and wellbeing information site and gateway for transactional healthcare services - grew from 5m monthly unique visitors in January 2013 to 11m in December 2013.

Chris Spencer, Chief Executive of EMIS Group, said: "EMIS Group has had an exceptionally productive year.

"As financial and demographic factors continue to impact the NHS, the Group confidently expects to remain at the heart of healthcare IT with our strategic mission of integrating healthcare systems spanning primary, CCMH, community pharmacy, secondary and specialist care."
