EMIS Group is making good progress in connecting clinicians across different parts of health and social care, to help fulfil the government's drive for seamless patient care.

Half year results released today for the six months ended 30 June 2015 report a good financial performance.

EMIS Health

EMIS Health has maintained a 54% market share in UK primary care, where 77% of GP practices have used an EMIS Health system for over 10 years. The company has also maintained its 36% market share in community pharmacy.

Market share in community, children's and mental health (CCMH) has grown from 8-9%, with contract wins year to date of £6.3m.

The announcement also highlights how connected software and services from EMIS Health are delivering integrated care. These include:

  • go-live of the first phase of a whole healthcare economy contract to deliver a fully integrated electronic patient record for Gibraltar. This links and integrates products in A&E, outpatients, community services, primary care and community pharmacy
  • connected care at the Royal Free Hospital's A&E, where, aided by data-sharing via EMIS Web, GPs are immediately discharging 50% of the patients they see with basic medical advice.

EMIS Health has made innovative products available for the community pharmacy market that connect GPs, pharmacists and patients across the whole of community pharmacy along with developing its next generation dispensary management software for independent and supermarket pharmacies.

In secondary care, there have been further contract wins as well as implementations of major contracts including unscheduled care technology in Wales. The Group's 2014 acquisition Indigo 4 (communications and laboratory messaging, now part of EMIS Health Secondary Care) is also performing well.

EMIS Care

The other 2014 acquisition, Medical Imaging (diabetic retinopathy screening, to be rebranded EMIS Care) is also performing strongly with over £70m of tender activity in hand including preferred bidder status for an £11million, five year tender in South West London.

Egton

There has been an increase in Egton (non-clinical ICT solutions and services) revenues in the year to date from £3.6m to £5m along with the acquisition of Pinbellcom (rebranded as Egton Digital). Its IntraDoc247 administration and compliance product complements the pre-existing Egton service providing practice websites that already has 100% penetration in seven CCGs.

Chris Spencer, Chief Executive of EMIS Group, said: "In a speech at the King's Fund, on 16 July 2015, Jeremy Hunt, The Secretary of State for Health for England, said: 'Within the next five years our electronic health records will be available seamlessly in every care setting. You will be able to access them, share them, mark preferences, and shape the care that you want around them.'

"EMIS Group sees this as continuing validation of its strategy of facilitating the delivery of patient-centred care through its unique portfolio of connected products and services."
