JOPLIN, MO - June 10, 2015 - Mr. Bob Brown retired from The Empire District Electric Company on May 31, following 41 years of service.
Mr. Brown joined the Company on October 21, 1974, as a Laborer at Asbury. In November 1975, he advanced to Laborer Semi-Skilled, and in August 1976, he transferred to Riverton as a Beginning Operator. In October 1976, he moved to Groundman in Gravette, and in December 1986, he transferred to Joplin in the same position. From March 1977 through August 1979, he advanced from Lineman 4th Class to Journeyman Lineman in Joplin. In March 1988, he began as a Line Foreman in Joplin. In February 1992, he was promoted to Area Supervisor in Webb City. In February 1998, he advanced to Manager of Line Operations in Webb City, the position he held at retirement.
He is a graduate of Webb City High School and attended Missouri Southern State University. Prior to
joining Empire, he worked at Spike's Tool & Die and was co-owner of B & S Machine Shop. (more)

Mr. Brown is a member of the Gospel of Peace Church. He enjoys riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, traveling and carpentry projects. After retirement, he is looking forward to spending time with family and friends at Table Rock Lake.
