THE EMPIRE DISTRICT GAS COMPANY ANNOUNCES LINE REPLACEMENT WORK IN NEVADA, MISSOURI

JOPLIN, MO - July 23, 2015 - The Empire District Gas Company announced today that crews will be completing work to upgrade gas mains and service lines in Nevada, beginning August 3. According to Tara Goodsell, Nevada Service Center Manager for Empire District Gas, construction should be complete in about 8 weeks and is planned for the following areas:

N. Osage Blvd from Floral to Central

E. Allison from Oak to Pine

E. Locust from Lynn to Elm

N. Elm from Allison to Locust

North Ash from Atlantic to Walnut

'We will install the mains first and follow this with the replacement of gas service lines,' said Goodsell. 'To minimize disruption, much of the replacement main installation will be accomplished by directional drilling. To avoid damages to privately owned underground lines, our crews need home and business owners help to identify the location of individually owned buried pipes and wires. Private buried lines such as storm and sanitary sewer laterals, sprinkler systems, etc. are not flagged by the City or other utility providers. If you know the approximate location of your sewer lateral or sprinkler system piping, please mark with flags or stakes in advance of our construction work.'

Goodsell continued, 'As individual service lines are replaced, we will temporarily interrupt gas service to each residence and/or business for approximately one to two hours. Upon completion of service line work, company personnel will need to gain access to homes or businesses to relight gas appliances.'
'Our crews will make every effort to minimize damage to lawns and streets. However, there will be some disruption, and we ask area residents and business owners to be patient as final clean- up work will be accomplished in the last phase of the project,' said Goodsell.
The Empire District Gas Company apologizes in advance for any inconvenience Nevada residents may experience as a result of this construction work that is being completed to ensure safe, reliable natural gas service.
