EMPIRE DISTRICT ANNOUNCES SCHEDULED UPGRADE OUTAGE IN JOPLIN, MISSOURI


JOPLIN, MO - November 10, 2015 - The Empire District Electric Company will interrupt service to approximately 270 customers in the Joplin area on Thursday, November 12, 2015 beginning at 2:00 p.m. and lasting approximately four hours. Customers should be aware these times are approximations and the outage could be postponed or extended due to weather or equipment issues.


Areas affected by the service interruption include the area from Campbell Parkway, east to Highland Avenue and from East 13thStreet, north to East 8thStreet in Joplin. Also, please be aware a large number of Empire crews and trucks will be concentrated along Minnesota Street between 11thand 13thStreets as well as along Florida from 12thStreet north to the railroad tracks during this period.


This scheduled outage is necessary to allow crews to safely transfer service to the new structures installed as part of an ongoing initiative to strengthen the delivery system and enhance reliability for customers.
