November 19, 2014

Energa Oświetlenie (Energa Lighting) will replace nearly 900 old-type lamps in Koszalin with modern energy-saving LED fixtures. The modernization is one of the bigger projects of this type in the West Pomeranian Province. The city will be brighter and more environment-friendly.

The company from the Energa Group started the modernization of lighting in a dozen or so main streets of the city. - The modernization will significantly contribute to improvement of safety and comfort of the residents and at the same time reduce electricity consumption and emissions - says Arkadiusz Marat, president of Energa Oświetlenie.

Savings for the city

New lighting points will have lower power than the existing ones, providing at the same time much better lighting parameters. Thanks to the use of modern LED technologies the costs of electricity consumption in the city will drop significantly. For the modernized area, the savings in terms of the power used will exceed 50%. The city will save 600 MWh of energy per annum, which corresponds to reduction of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by 550 tons per year.

Brighter under the lamp-posts

The new lighting in Koszalin will be not only energy-saving and environment-friendly but also more user-friendly than the yellow sodium lamps. The white light generated by LED makes the illuminated area brighter and more natural. Thanks to LED lighting it is easier to recognize items, colors and shapes after dark. The new lighting will also ensure better visibility of the roadside.

Depending on the weather, the modernization will take from 2 to 4 months. The average time of replacement of one fixture by two engineers is approx. 30 minutes - With 3 or 4 such teams, we are able to replace on average 30 fixtures a day. So weather permitting, by the end of December most lamps will be replaced - says the company president.

The modernization in Koszalin will be one of the bigger projects carried out by Energa Oświetlenie in the Pomerania Region. Earlier on, the company completed big investments, among others, in Trzebielin and Słupsk in Pomerania, and in the Postomino municipality in the West Pomeranian region. In Trzebielin Energa replaced and modernized 354 lamps, thanks to which the town was the first in Poland to be fully illuminated with LED lamps. In Słupsk the company installed over 700, and in Postomino 480, sodium fixtures, replacing the old energy-consuming mercury lamps.
