BOSTON - During and following the latest significant winter storm to hit the region this year, Eversource restored power to more than 75,000 of its Eastern Massachusetts customers affected by this week's nor'easter. The company credits the successful combination of ongoing electric system maintenance and upgrades, and the hard work and dedication of its workers, for the safe and rapid response to the damage the storm caused.

"Our crews, support staff and contractors did a remarkable job in very difficult conditions to safely and quickly restore power to our customers impacted by this latest storm," said Doug Foley, Vice President of Electric Field Operations at Eversource. "Our system also responded very well in the face of the heavy snow and 60 mile-per-hour wind gusts we experienced across much of our Massachusetts service area."

Eversource designs its system to be resilient against the effects of extreme weather conditions and maintains a highly trained, experienced staff of lineworkers, engineers and support personnel to analyze and repair any damage caused by snow and high winds. Ongoing system improvements and comprehensive tree maintenance also play important roles in the company's ability to continue to improve service reliability and minimize the duration of outages, even during storms.

Effectively updating customers during storms is also a very important part of the company's overall restoration process. To further improve its communications, Eversource recently rolled out a new enhancement that ensures customers can personalize how they receive important outage information and updates by selecting their preferred method of contact. Customers can sign up for outage alerts using the link located on the homepage of Eversource.com.
