Entra Eiendom : Media City Bergen won the 2018 City Award

The prestigious award is presented every year at the annual City Conference for the real estate sector. The criteria for winning the award are that the project is innovative, financially successful and designed in a way that makes a positive contribution to its surroundings.

The City Award was first presented in 1998, and has over the years been won by a number of renowned real estate projects all over the country, including Union Brygge in Drammen, Karenslyst allé, Tjuvholmen, the Opera Quarter in Oslo, Vulkan in Oslo and Rockheim in Trondheim.

At the annual City Conference last week it was announced that this year's award was won by the newly-established media cluster in Bergen, Media City Bergen. Among other things, the jury stated:

'Media City Bergen has breathed new life into a part of Bergen city centre that most people didn't visit very often. A short time after completion, the buildings have become an attraction and destination for large and small media businesses alike, their visitors and the city's residents.'

'The jury is impressed by the courage, innovation, cultivation of the concept and ability to perform that has emerged in the planning and realization of the MCB project.'

The building was ready for occupation in August 2017. The new Media cluster in Bergen is inspired by MediaCity UK in the Manchester harbour district. The originators of the project were TV2, NRK, Bergensavisen, Bergens Tidende, the University of Bergen and technology company VIZRT. They have now all moved in to the building along with a number of other businesses, including technology company Vimond, several startup companies, event and communication companies and other media related businesses.
