Improved service provides timely, accurate information when the lights go out

BATON ROUGE, La. - To ensure that customers receive timely and accurate information about their power - particularly during storm-related outages - Entergy Louisiana, LLC and Entergy Gulf States Louisiana, L.L.C. have improved their outage-texting service to provide customers with text-capable cell phones up-to-the-minute alerts.

"We're continuously seeking new and better ways to keep customers informed, especially to help them be able to better plan their lives when power outages do occur," said Steven Scheurich, vice president of customer service and external affairs for Entergy's Louisiana utilities. "We want to provide our customers with the information they need, when they need it and the way they want it - not just for major storms, but for any outage event. We hope our customers never experience an outage, but if they do, we'll keep them and their neighbors informed."

Several options allow customers to indicate their preferred contact method:

  • Customers can visit entergylouisiana.com/myaccount or text REG to 368374 from their cell phones sign up for outage texting or to receive outage alerts by phone.

  • Customers also can make their choices by calling 1-800-9OUTAGE (1-800-968-8243) and selecting option 5.

  • New customers can indicate their preferred contact method when they initiate electric service.

Earlier this year, the Louisiana utilities introduced a suite of new services and tools that help customers save money and stay informed, including the outage-texting service and other ways customers can manage their Entergy accounts online and on the go. For more information, visit entergy.com.
