Winter in the U.S. state of New York

Against all odds: despite permafrost, ice and snow, the 541 kW EnviTec biogas plant 'Lawnhurst Energy, LLC' of the Jensen family in Stanley, New York is running reliably without any problems. While competitors had to contend with cracked welds on gas lines, frozen ventilation flaps and caved-in foil membrane roofs, the Jensen plant, commissioned in autumn of 2013, defied the extreme temperatures. The digester engine generator has run over 90% rated capacity for over 24,000 hours.

The plant, which was honoured with the 'Biogas Industry Award' in 2014, generates green energy from dairy cow manure, fats and food waste. The Jensens receive on-site support from EnviTec Biogas USA Inc., the company's own branch office based in Skaneateles, New York.
