E.ON has made its first strategic co-investment in an Australian company: Organic Response, a Melbourne-based startup that develops innovative smart lighting controls for commercial and public buildings. Both companies will work together to establish sales channels and ramp up marketing activities for these products in E.ON's markets.

Organic Response's patented autonomous algorithm architecture uses distributed intelligence to interconnect individual light fixtures, transforming buildings into occupant-centric, energy-efficient ecosystems. Independent studies have shown that the system can reduce a building's lighting energy consumption by as much as 80 percent. The technology is already in use in hospitals, schools, and a range of public buildings.

"Organic Response's advanced data analytics and connectivity can add real value to E.ON's commercial building customers in Europe by enabling them to achieve lasting reductions in their energy and operating costs," said Susana Quintana Plaza, Senior Vice President for Technology and Innovation at E.ON. "Organic Response is a natural fit with our strategy of investing and partnering with companies that deliver cutting-edge technologies that will help shape tomorrow's markets."

Organic Response Chris Duffield added that, "we're delighted to have E.ON as a partner; the investment reflects our mutual desire to deliver smart lighting solutions to the European market. The capital investment will be utilized to expand Organic Response's presence in the European market as the adoption of energy efficiency and intelligent building solutions continue to increase."
