The solution speeds up the entry to and exit from carparks by facilitating payment procedures and makes it possible for drivers to not only find available parking spaces but also make reservations, all by means of a smartphone application.

Gediz Sezgin, Chief Technology Officer of Turkcell, says: 'We are one of the first operators in the world to support Narrowband Internet of Things throughout the network and leverage this technology for the Smart Parking Lot solution. It was developed in close cooperation with Ericsson in Turkey and we will continue to pursue our efforts and investments in the Internet of Things field.'

Ralf Pichler, Head of Ericsson Turkey, says: 'We are very proud to receive this award together with Turkcell and it is a testament to our innovation excellence. This type of local cooperation is an important part of Ericsson's strategy and makes it possible for us to develop and evaluate solutions locally before offering them on the global market.'

The Smart Parking Lot solution has been deployed by Turkcell over its 4.5G network. The solution is currently serving the carpark of Turkcell's headquarters in Istanbul and will soon be generally available for Turkcell subscribers.
