Ericsson Nikola Tesla d d : Belarus Approaching 75% 4G Coverage, 5G Coming Up Next

Two months ago, we informed the public on the contract concluded between Ericsson Nikola Tesla and Belorussian company beCloud, worth more than MHRK 76, with the aim of enabling LTE services to Belarussian users. At the press conference held in Minsk on December 14, representatives of beCloud and all other included partners concluded with satisfaction that LTE is already available in Minsk. By the end of 2016, it will be launched in commercial operation in all regional centers of Belarus, said the operator's heads.
In January 2017, LTE will be operational in more than 30 districts of Belarus, which means 4G will be available to 5.5 million Belarusians, i.e. 75% urban population. The plan is to cover all densely-populated cities with LTE by the end of 2017, while beCloud also plans to continue the development of 5G network which can ensure connection speeds up to 1 Gbps and more.
Hrvoje Benčić, Director of Engagement Practices and Ericsson Nikola Tesla Customer Operations, who was also available to the media, believes this project is specific due to two things. The first one is local legislation. All infrastructure works are within the domain of a particular local authority, and the other one is the infrastructure model of network sharing. beCloud is the owner of LTE infrastructure, while other operators (at the beginning, MTS and Life) will provide services. This way, the best level of frequency band usage is achieved, which is perceived by users through better network performance. Our experts have once again shown a high level of competence and motivation, and have successfully answered to all the requests. Benčić is convinced that, once LTE network becomes fully implemented, the users will be provided with a completely new experience and the advanced services possibilities.
