Exxaro Resources Limited (Exxaro) is one of six South African companies to be included in the 2015 Sustainability Yearbook published by Swiss-based sustainability investment specialist, RobecoSAM.

Together with S&P Dow Jones Indices, RobecoSAM also publishes the globally recognised Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI). The company's annual Sustainability Yearbook is the reference guide to the world's leading companies based on their financially material ESG (environmental, social and governance) performance. Each year, the group invites over 3 000 companies to participate in the assessment. A total of 830 companies participated in 2014.

For each industry, the company with the highest score is named the RobecoSAM Industry Leader, and is considered to be the company within its industry that is best prepared to seize the opportunities and manage the risks deriving from economic, environmental and social developments. Companies whose score is within 1% of the Industry Leader's score receive the Gold Class award. Companies ranked within a range of 1% to 5% from the score of the Industry Leader receive the Silver Class distinction, while companies whose score is within a range of 5% to 10% receive the Bronze Class distinction.

Exxaro is one of six South African companies listed in the Yearbook. Exxaro has been awarded a Bronze Class medal. The other South African companies are AngloGold Ashanti Ltd; Gold Fields Ltd (Silver Award); Nedbank Group Ltd; Netcare Ltd and Woolworths Holdings Ltd (Bronze). Exxaro is listed in the Coal and Consumable Fuels category where the sector leader was Banpu PLC of Thailand.
