Exxaro regrets to report a loss of life at the Company's operation in Mpumalanga. An employee, Sibongiseni Sihle Majozi, was fatally injured in a conveyor belt related incident at Matla Mine 2 shaft on Tuesday, 1 March 2017. The incident follows Exxaro's record of two years and eight months without a fatality.

Exxaro CEO, Mxolisi Mgojo, said:' On behalf of management and employees at Exxaro, I wish to extend our sincere condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of Mr Majozi. Safety remains a top priority at Exxaro and we will continue to strive to achieve zero harm at our operations.'

The Department of Mineral Resources and Matla Mine management are currently conducting an in-loco inspection and a full investigation will commence in due course.
