NEW YORK--The boom in U.S. shale oil and gas production has put U.S. energy security "within the visible future," said Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) Chief Executive Rex Tillerson on Wednesday.
With public policy that encourages the industry, there are enough U.S. oil and gas reserves to provide the domestic economy with enough fuel through the rest of this century, Mr. Tillerson said during a breakfast event in New York.
"To say the U.S. is energy poor is simply not accurate," Mr. Tillerson said.
