ATLANTA, Jan. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Last Friday, Family Dollar Stores, Inc. (NYSE: FDO) announced a $343,310.45 donation to Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA). To celebrate the announcement, BGCA and Family Dollar partnered with celebrity chef Pat Neely and members from the Charlotte Hornets organization to host a special event at The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club in Charlotte. The amount includes donations from Family Dollar Smart Steps to Great Futures Back to School and Holiday campaigns. Funds raised will go to the organization, in support of the nearly four million young people served by Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide.

To kick off the celebration, Family Dollar associates and executives entertained the youth with a flash mob presentation. Pat Neely hosted a Healthy Lifestyles Trivia Game inspired by Family Dollar's new Game Show "Save to Win!" and provided the participants with tips and tricks for healthy lifestyles and awarded winners with Family Dollar gift cards. In addition, The Charlotte Hornets clinic staff hosted a mini basketball clinic while the Charlotte Honeybee Dancers hosted a dance clinic for Club members.
