Industry award: Faurecia among the "Best of 2015" Automotive equipment supplier wins award for "Less is more" lightweight construction and "Prêt-à-Porter" interior design concept

At the Hannover Messe, French automotive equipment supplier Faurecia was honored with the "Best of 2015" industry award for its innovative "Less is more" lightweight construction and "Prêt-à-Porter" interior design concept, taking second place in
the "Automotive" category. The jury was convinced by the concepts put forward in the award-winning innovations, illustrating
that Faurecia's ideas were among the best entries submitted.
Every year, publishers Huber Verlag für Neue Medien recognize particularly innovative businesses. The independent jury of professors, industry experts and scientists evaluated entries in 14 categories for their economic, social, technological and ecological benefits, making this prize unique in the industry sector.
"Less is more" bundles Faurecia's latest innovations in the field of lightweight construction for the development of cleaner and more efficient vehicles. Faurecia has applied new construction techniques and optimized design and developed and used alternative materials and new manufacturing processes to reduce the weight per vehicle by more than 100 kilograms. Composites pave the way for revolutionary concepts, which help to reduce vehicle weight and improve their environmental footprint. The main components of "Less is more" include lightweight seats with an optimized construction, fiberglass composite vehicle floors, interior components made from organic materials and hybrid material supports for instrument panels.
Faurecia took account of seven areas of development in the "Prêt-à-Porter" interior design study: premium materials and decorative features, cutting and seaming solutions, on-board computers with integrated man-machine interfaces, wireless charging for smartphones and their integration, seamless integrated ventilation, comfort and wellness features, such as an integrated massage function for the front passenger's feet, and lighting with a visible structure.
In Germany Faurecia employs 12,000 people at more than 30 production and 11 research, design and development sites.
German automotive manufacturers represent 38% of the Faurecia Group's global sales.
