Faurecia wins AutomotiveINNOVATIONS Award 2015 "Most Innovative Supplier 2015" in the category "Interior"

Faurecia, one of the world's leading automotive equipment suppliers, was honoured with the AutomotiveINNOVATIONS Award on Thursday for its strength in innovation in the area of vehicle interiors. This is the second coveted award for the company, which was chosen as "Most Innovative Supplier 2015" in the category "Interior", following the honour in 2014. Philippe Aumont, Chief Technical Officer Faurecia Automotive Seating, accepted the award from Professor Dr. Stefan Bratzel, Director of the Center of Automotive Management (CAM), and Felix Kuhnert, Head of Automotive Europe for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), at the event which took place in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
"Faurecia consistently works on innovations that set standards in safety, comfort and convenience, efficiency, sustainability and lightweight design", says Philippe Aumont. "We are very proud that our work and our efforts have been recognised with this award. Thanks especially go to our employees for this achievement. The award motivates us to perform to our highest in future, too, in order to continually further develop Faurecia and the automobile."
Decisive for winning the award are the numerous innovations such as the Cover Carving lightweight seat or "Less is more", which the automotive supplier launched last year. The latter is a bundle of the newest ideas by Faurecia within the area of lightweight design. The jury particularly highlighted the competence of Faurecia in innovative seating systems which ensure reduced weight, more interior space and efficient production. The car manufacturers surveyed also see in Faurecia the most innovative partner when it comes to vehicle interiors. Philippe Aumont: "Customers' expectations on the vehicle's interior as
a mobile living room are continually increasing. It's essential to combine their wishes for connectivity, individuality and
comfort."
Professor Dr. Stefan Bratzel, Director of the Center of Automotive Management: "In the category 'Interior', Faurecia convinced us with its high strength in innovation and ability to come up with entire vehicle interiors based on practical and environmentally friendly solutions - from detailed elements to automotive seats. The company develops both high-quality as well as aesthetic concepts and is also perceived as a strong, innovative supplier."
The AutomotiveINNOVATIONS Award is honoured on the basis of a survey conducted by the CAM. The innovative vehicle technologies from numerous car manufacturers and suppliers are reviewed and judged according to both quantitative as well as qualitative criteria. For choosing the winner, developments launched by the supplier are analysed over a two-year period and reviewed according to their degree of maturity and innovation. Furthermore, the supplier's customers are surveyed about the company's performance in innovation.
The automotive expert of PwC, Felix Kuhnert: "The top positioning of German car manufacturers is based largely on the automotive suppliers' strength in innovation. To ensure the ongoing success of Germany's car industry, it will therefore be essential to encourage close networking between manufacturers and suppliers. Last but not least, the demands for premium results from German manufacturers drive suppliers to perform their best."
Since 2012, the independent institute for empirical automotive and mobility research, the Center of Automotive Management in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, has been honouring the most innovative car manufacturers and suppliers of the year in a total of 14 different categories.
