Ferrari Driver Academy student wins second race of the FIA Formula 2 round in the Principality, having started from pole

At the end of 30 action packed laps, which he led from start to finish, Antonio Fuoco took the chequered flag, screaming in delight. 'It's a shame it had to be behind the Safety Car, as I'd have preferred to be racing to the finish, but that was the only little downside of the day,' said Antonio once he stepped down from the podium. Starting from pole, Antonio made the most of the opportunity to lead the field into Sainte Devote.

'It was the key moment of the race,' explained the 22 year old FDA driver. 'I knew I couldn't afford to make a mistake and when it all went off fine, I breathed a sigh of relief. It was no walk in the park, because the safety car came out three times, but in Monaco, being the lead is a good advantage, even when it comes to managing the restarts. In race 1 I was unlucky, but after a drive-through I got back up to eighth, so I knew I had a good pace and I never felt my lead was under threat.'

This is Fuoco's second win in the FIA Formula 2 Championship and it sees him move up to eighth in the championship, on 39 points. Joining him on the podium were Lando Norris and Louis Deletraz.
