• The two schools, in Houston, will be open for the 2018-2019 school year.
  • Last year, Ferrovial acquired Texan company Pepper Lawson to strengthen the water infrastructure and commercial building areas of its subsidiary Webber.

Webber, a Ferrovial Agroman subsidiary, has been selected by Aldine Independent School District to build two schools for 94 million dollars (more than 87 million euro).

The schools, to be built in Houston, will be open for the 2018-2019 school year. Each school, designed for 1,400 students, will comprise a 227,000 square foot building on a 45 acre plot. Facilities will include a cafetorium, a gymnasium, science labs and playing fields, and also outdoor learning spaces, group learning spaces, art and music rooms and a theatre. The project also includes building roads and parking spaces on-campus.

Construction will be financed under the Aldine ISD 798 million dollar bond. The issue was approved by voters in November 2015, and the funds will be used in the construction, renovation and enhancement of the district's schools through 2020.

This contract reinforces Webber's presence in commercial construction. Last year, Ferrovial acquired construction company Pepper Lawson to strengthen its water infrastructure and commercial building areas.
