  • Great reception for the Abarth 124 rally taking a long test.
  • Awards and unforgettable events under the sign of 'The Scorpionship'.
  • Anneliese Abarth and many other champions joined the day.

Saturday 29 October recorded a very successful Abarth Day 2016, an outstanding event that involved thousands of Scorpion fans in four European circuits: Silverstone in Great Britain, Nurburgring in Germany, Navarra in Spain and Tazio Nuvolari in Italy. A total of 1,100 Abarth cars converged to the four circuits

Italy put together a packed day and an unforgettable event for fans, with many initiatives showcasing the world of Abarth. Many were able to test drive the new range, featuring Abarth 595, 595 Turismo, 595 Competizione, 695 biposto and the new 124 spider, on the tracks. Participants were also able to let their passion lose, driving their new and old Abarth vehicles safely on the tracks, following the best philosophy of 'The Scorpionship', the first official Abarth community, now exceeding 52,000 members.
The event brought together over 500 cars and many foreign visitors, particularly from Switzerland and France.

Many Abarth Classic Cars also took part in Abarth Day 2016, showing the brand's long history. Fiat Abarth 124 Rally, Fiat 131 Abarth Rally and Lancia Rally 037 from the FCA Heritage collection were among the vehicles on show. The 1 Abarth Classic Selenia Cup took place at the event, with Sergio Tacchini from Bergamo and Gina Colotto from Liguria taking the top spots. The two pilots were presented their award by Anneliese Abarth and Arturo Merzario, together with other past champions like Maurizio Verini, Luciano Trombotto, Fulvio Bacchelli and Francesco Rossetti, who animated a vivacious talk-show.

The Abarth Day was also the backdrop for a preview of the new Abarth 124 Rally, soon to be star of a single brand trophy, at next year's Italian Rally Championship. Fitted under the FIA R-GT rules, the car took a long test drive session over a purpose-built track, with test driver Alex Fiorio behind the wheel. Gianandrea Pisani - the young leader of the Italian Championship with his Abarth 500 R3T - gave a real show on the same special track, behind the wheel of the 695 two-seater Rally.
Cars from the Abarth Selenia Trophy were on the regular track instead, and against that backdrop the winners of the 2016 Championship, Cosimo Barberini from Italy, followed by Joackim Darbom from Sweden and Alex Campani, were presented their awards. Manuel Fernandes from Portugal, winner of the Abarth 595 OT category, was presented with an Abarth 595 Competizione as prize.
Fringe events included the two-seater range exhibition, the Yamaha Factory show exhibiting the Yamaha Factory Racing showbikes, simulators, slot car racing tracks and a Gymkhana Race, as well as the Abarth 124 spider Virtual reality configurator.

The event's success also relied on Abarth's supporters and sponsors: Mopar was on hand with Mopar Express Care (MEC). Mopar is the reference brand for services, Customer Care, genuine spare parts and accessories for the FCA brands. MEC is an innovative service the offers you support and service wherever you are. The cargo compartment of the new Fiat Ducato has been fitted with functional solutions that provide the necessary equipment, tools and spare parts required to perform all the main maintenance and repair work on the vehicles anywhere, in total mobility. During the event, visitors were also able to take advantage of a few operations on their cars with the MEC. Fans were able to admire the new Fiat Professional Ducato and Talento models, provided to the Abarth Racing team by Official Partner Fiat Professional.
