FIS™ (NYSE:FIS), a global leader in financial services technology, today announced the winner of 2017 InnovateIN48, an annual coding competition that challenges FIS teams from around the world to find innovative ways to apply emerging technology to solve real-world financial industry problems.

Three hundred teams from more than 20 countries took part in the 2017 competition, which began in May. In the final rounds, held Sept. 11-14 in Berlin, 14 finalist teams spent 48 hours competing non-stop. The mission this year: to develop new and unique ways to apply artificial intelligence to benefit the financial services industry.

“Ron Burgundy’s News Team,” a team made up of coders from four different locations around the world, was named the winner for creating a solution that provides financial analysts and traders with intelligent recommendations based on past behaviors.

Sponsored by Microsoft and Hewlett Packard Enterprise, FIS InnovateIN48 was judged by IT and security experts from FIS and financial services company Nordea, NRW.BANK and Hewlett Packard Enterprise.
