When we talk about a brighter future together we're talking about making changes now and that includes reducing our dependence on electricity generated by burning fossil fuels. Human activity is dumping carbon dioxide and other global warming emissions into the earth's atmosphere. That process traps heat and increases the planet's temperature, creating harmful impacts on our health, our environment, and our climate.

Electricity production accounts for more than one-third of U.S. global warming emissions, with the majority generated by coal-fired power plants, which produce approximately 25 percent of total U.S. global warming emissions . Most renewable energy sources produce little to no global warming emissions. (Source: www.ucsusa.org)

A study by the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory assessed the possibility possibility of generating 80% percent of America's electricity from renewable sources by 2050. The result? Global warming emissions from electricity production could be reduced by approximately 81%.
