The city's leading bus operator, First Aberdeen, today confirmed that it has been shortlisted at this year's RouteONE Operator Excellence Awards, one of the most respected awards ceremonies in the bus industry.

First Aberdeen has been shortlisted for the much coveted 'Medium Bus Operator of the Year' award, which reviews overall performance, punctuality and reliability amongst other categories.

Duncan Cameron, Director and General Manager at First Aberdeen, said: "I am delighted the company has been shortlisted in the Medium Bus Operator category - it's an important award within the industry and I'm sure competition will be tough."

Talking about why the company has been shortlisted Duncan added: "I'm certain that the initiatives we've introduced to make our services more attractive to customers haven't gone unnoticed. We've invested in new vehicles, launched a number of fares promotions, customer competitions and deals with retailers which are all helping encourage people to use the bus."

He added: "In addition I know that the judging panel will be aware of the fantastic efforts of my colleagues across the company, which has led to our best ever punctuality and reliability performance - more than 95% of our services leave their terminus on time."

The RouteOne Operator Excellence Awards will take place October 2 in Birmingham.
