Fluor’s two-stage absorption technology for ultra-sour gas treatment was named a finalist in the Breakthrough Solution of the Year category. The technology improves the configuration of ultra-sour gas treatment facilities and potentially reduces the need for costly downstream processing equipment. The technology results in improved operator safety, improved processing quality and reduced capital and operating costs compared to conventional methods.

“Fluor’s two-stage absorption technology is a game changer for the development of ultra-sour gas fields,” said Jason Kraynek, vice president of Business Transformation & Innovation for Fluor. “We are honored that Platts has recognized the cost, safety and quality benefits that this approach brings to clients developing unconventional gas reserves.”

Fluor’s Travis Dudley was named as a finalist in the Rising Star – Individual category. Dudley is currently serving as Fluor’s project director for the Greensville County Power Station project, a combined-cycle, natural gas facility under construction in Virginia. Once the project is completed, the generating station will be one of the largest, most efficient and environmentally friendly of its kind in the world. The Rising Star – Individual award recognizes leaders who have made remarkable strides in their current role, inevitably impacting their industry.

“Fluor is proud to have one of our own recognized as a finalist for the esteemed Rising Star award,” said Simon Nottingham, president of Fluor’s Power business. “As someone who exemplifies a pioneering and delivery-focused attitude, Travis is truly deserving of this acknowledgment.”

Energy companies from 28 countries have been selected as finalists by S&P Global Platts. Established in 1999, the event highlights corporate and individual innovation, leadership and superior performance in 19 categories that span the entire energy industry.

Fluor has been named a finalist 10 times since 2010.
