9 December 2016 - RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) has successfully delivered the first LNG cargo at the second jetty of the Zeebrugge LNG terminal. Unloading the vessel was part of the operational tests in view of commissioning the new facility.

The second jetty at the Zeebrugge LNG terminal has been designed for receiving the smallest LNG carriers with a capacity from 2000 m3 of LNG up to large LNG vessels with a capacity of 217 000 m3 of LNG. The new facility will also enable the terminal to respond flexibly to simultaneous or more intense services demand: using both jetties will allow two LNG carriers to be unloaded or loaded at the same time.

Upon testing of loading operations for small LNG carriers at the second jetty in recent weeks, the reception of RasGas' Milaha Qatar has allowed performance testing of unloading operations for large LNG vessels.

'The second jetty at the Zeebrugge LNG terminal marks a new milestone in the development of Fluxys Belgium's role in the import of LNG in Northwest Europe, RasGas is proud to facilitate its start-up operations through the delivery of this cargo and we congratulate Fluxys Belgium on the successful unloading of the Milaha Qatar at the second jetty,' said Khalid Sultan R. Al-Kuwari, RasGas' Chief Marketing & Shipping Officer.

'Fluxys Belgium is particularly satisfied with the smooth delivery of the RasGas cargo, allowing us to enter the final stages of operational testing for the second jetty. RasGas' responsiveness to facilitate the start-up of the new facility once again attests to the very fruitful cooperation we have been building since the long-term contracts we signed in 2004 for the reception of LNG from Qatar,' said Pascal De Buck, CEO of Fluxys Belgium.
