Today, Fluxys Belgium, Interconnector (UK) Ltd (IUK) and National Grid Gas (NGG) are launching a consultation, jointly seeking your views on our proposals to implement new European Regulation and to introduce innovative new services from IUK and Fluxys Belgium with respect to the new ZIGMA market model. Market participants are invited to give feedback by 6 May to help shape the further development of the proposals.

ZIGMA

Fluxys Belgium and IUK propose to create a cross-border entry-exit zone called ZIGMA (Zeebrugge beach Interconnector Gas Market Area) which brings together the Interconnector Pipeline, Zeebrugge area and Zeebrugge Beach. In the innovative ZIGMA concept, Zeebrugge Beach becomes the virtual trading point within the cross-border entry-exit zone, which:
  • provides gas sourcing possibilities from Norway (Zeepipe pipeline), the UK Continental Shelf (SEAL pipeline) and the Zeebrugge LNG terminal;
  • connects the GB, Dutch and Belgian gas trading places (NBP, TTF and ZTP),
  • links into the GB, Dutch and Belgian downstream markets.

CAM and BAL Network Codes

The proposals also include the key concepts for implementing the Capacity Allocation Mechanism (CAM) and Balancing (BAL) Network Codes for customers wishing to transport gas between the GB and Belgian markets.
