On Monday, Ford announced it will begin manufacturing its Lincoln SUV models specifically for sale in China. The projected timeline for production of the market-specific SUV line is the 4th quarter of 2019. The Lincoln SUV is one of Ford's most popular models in and out of the United States. Also, it was reported that Ford will add 5 new stores in China to its existing expansion plan. This news was announced as one of its major competitors, GM, was beginning to see signs of a more difficult Chinese auto market. Ford's stock closed at $12.54, as it edged up 1 cent per share. Last week, Ford added Ms. Lynn M. Vojvodich to its Board of Directors as announced through a press release.

GM's Monday stock price closed up 5 cents a share to $36.87. The stock price appears to be counter to a movement as more than more investment rating firms that have begun to downgrade GM stock from a "buy" to a "hold." One possible reason for this was the March 8th insider stock sale of Stefan Jacoby. The SEC reported his sale of 2,435 shares, reducing his total holdings to 85,735 shares. Last Friday, the company declared a dividend of 38 cents per share with an ex-dividend date of March 8th to be paid on March 24th. In contrast to Ford's expansion plans, GM saw its sales in China rise by a mere than 4 percent in February as the company reported last week. Investment rating firms seem to already be on the watch for future potential losses in sales in China to Ford.
