20 for January, down 0.4 percentage points

  • Ford was Europe's No. 1 commercial vehicle brand in January, with 26,700 sold, up 4.4 percent, making it the best January for Ford CV sales in 25 years. CV market share at 13.8 percent was down 0.2 percentage points

  • Transit family sales of 21,600 are the highest ever for January, increasing 6.9 percent from January 2017

  • High-series vehicles - including Titanium, Vignale, ST-Line, ST and RS - made up 68 percent of passenger car sales in the Euro 20 for January, up 8.2 percentage points

  • Ford Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) sales grew 6 percent in January, driven by Kuga's best January sales ever. Ford sold 17,800 SUVs in its Euro 20 markets

  • Sales of Ford's two most popular vehicles - Fiesta and Focus - grew in January, with Fiesta sales up 5 percent for its best January since 2011, and Focus sales up 6 percent for its best January since 2012

  • Retail and fleet customer sales accounted for 76 percent of Ford passenger vehicle sales in Ford's top five European markets in January

  • Ford sales grew in 15 of its Euro 20 markets in January, with significant gains in Germany (total vehicle sales up 11.5 percent), Spain (up 6.4 percent) and the Netherlands (up 20 percent)

VEHICLE AND MARKET NEWS

Ford total vehicle sales in Germany grew 11.5 percent in January, and the brand retained its 7.3 percent market share. The growth was driven by strong demand for Fiesta, Focus and Kuga.

Kuga January sales reached a new high of 12,800, up 28 percent from January 2017. Strong Kuga sales contributed to Ford's overall SUV growth of 6 percent in its Euro 20 markets in January.

Fiesta sales grew 5 percent, the best January for Fiesta sales since 2011. In 2018, the Fiesta range will be strengthened even further with the arrival of the Fiesta ST and Fiesta Active coming later in the year.

The Ford Ranger continues to lead as Europe's best-selling pickup truck, based on latest available data from the end of December. Ford sold 3,800 Ranger trucks in its Euro 20 markets in January.
