Christmas cheer came to Fortescue's operational sites this week, with hundreds of family members travelling to the Pilbara to celebrate Christmas with their loved ones.

Around 500 guests were treated to a Christmas feast at Solomon, Christmas Creek and Cloudbreak, a tour of the mining operations and a very special visit from Santa for the youngest visitors.

'Family is at the core of our values and we know that the support and encouragement of partners, children, parents and even grandparents is essential to our success,' Fortescue Chief Executive Officer Nev Power said.

'We are delighted to be able to bring families together at our sites to share the festive spirit.'

Christmas Creek General Manager Jim Herring and his team hosted more than 100 family members on Christmas Day, including his wife and children.

'The visits allow families to celebrate Christmas together and also provides an opportunity to show off our world-class mining operations and enjoy the village lifestyle at Christmas Creek,' Mr Herring said.

In Port Hedland, Fortescue team members helped the Port Hedland Seafarers Centre with their annual Christmas gift bag drive, packing over 2,000 gift bags that will be delivered to ship crews anchored in Port Hedland over the Christmas period.

Hedland Operations General Manager Fernando Pereira said the Seafarers Centre provided invaluable services to the thousands of seafarers visiting Port Hedland every year.

'We hope these small gestures bring comfort and Christmas cheer to seafarers working at sea this festive season,' Mr Pereira said.

Background
The Christmas family visit is one of many regular tours conducted by Fortescue throughout the year at all sites for families of Fortescue team members.

Fortescue is a long-time supporter of the Seafarers Centre and in 2016 granted the Seafarers access to Herb Elliott Port for weekly public tours to assist with ongoing fundraising.
