The doors to Fortescue Metals Group's (Fortescue) Port and Rail operations were once again thrown open this week to family members and Port Hedland residents, as part of Fortescue's annual Family and Community Tour.

Hosted by Fortescue General Manager Port and Rail Fernando Pereira, the tour welcomed more than 200 attendees who were taken through Fortescue's world-class Port and Rail operations and enjoyed lunch at Hamilton village.

Mr Pereira said the Family and Community Tour is a key aspect of Fortescue's ongoing engagement with the community in Port Hedland.

'We are proud of the relationship that we have with the community in Port Hedland, where the majority of our Pilbara residential workforce is based. The tour is an opportunity for the community to gain valuable insights into our day-to-day operations,' he said.

Also on the tour were family members who made the 2,600km round-trip from Perth to visit their loved ones.

'Family is one of Fortescue's key values and we are pleased to again welcome members of our extended family to Port Hedland,' Mr Pereira said.

'These visits are an essential part of our commitment to the health and wellbeing of our workforce, by ensuring that families are able to feel connected through gaining a better understanding of our operations and life at our sites.'
