SEATTLE, Wash., - May 13, 2015 - Frontier Communications (NASDAQ: FTR) announced today that it invested a total of $200.21 million in capital expenditures in the state of Washington during the past three years, including more than $64.3 million in 2014.

Major capital expenditures supported engineering initiatives and improved network infrastructure for residential and commercial customers in Chelan, Clark, Ferry, King, Okanogan, Pierce, Snohomish and Spokane counties.

"Frontier's investments in Washington are being felt throughout the communities we serve," said Vicky Oxley, Frontier Vice President and General Manager for Washington. "Our powerful network, together with our dedicated local employees, is delivering tremendous benefits to customers and shareholders alike."

The company's Washington market also received incremental support in 2014 from the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) Connect America Fund (CAF). The CAF funding, totaling more than $4.1 million, allows Frontier to accelerate broadband availability in underserved areas. "Continued investment in Washington is vital to the region's economic development, increases opportunities for consumers, and supports businesses of all sizes from small shops to larger enterprises," commented Oxley. "Broadband access is especially important with the Internet of Things -- new technologies and devices that connect with each other via the Internet -- from home thermostats to smart health trackers to washers/dryers using Wi-Fi for remote monitoring, plus phones, laptops, tablets and TVs."

Frontier has invested more than $200 million of its own capital over the past three years to increase broadband access and improve network infrastructure.

Key 2014 operational highlights for the state include:

  • Availability of 100 Mbps to residential FiOS customers
  • Availability of 150 Mbps to commercial FiOS customers

Throughout the year, Frontier sponsors dozens of community events, participates in key nonprofit boards and committees, and supports local organizations including Providence General Foundation, Boys & Girls Club, United Way, Junior Achievement, and the Red Cross of Snohomish and Skagit Counties.
