Frontier Communications Corporation (NASDAQ:FTR) has appointed Michael Golob, a recognized telecommunications industry engineering leader, as senior vice president, engineering and technology for the company's West Region, Frontier’s largest operating region.

Golob will lead West Region engineering initiatives for California, Oregon and Washington. His major responsibilities include leading an organization of more than 1,000 team members, regional network planning and implementation, overseeing Central Office and construction operations. Additionally, he will continue to manage the national Central Office Installation team and program manage Frontier’s Connect America program. Golob will report to West Region President Melinda White.

Previously, Golob had led Frontier’s national engineering operations since 2005. Most recently, he led the engineering efforts during the company’s acquisition of Verizon’s 4.8 million access lines and transition of more than one million High Speed Internet customers in 14 states. Golob was instrumental in gaining California Public Utilities Commission approval for the Verizon acquisition. Before joining Frontier Communications, Golob served as vice president of operations and engineering for Electric Lightwave, Inc., a publicly-traded company formerly owned by Frontier Communications.

As a veteran of the 1990 Gulf War and Operation Uphold Democracy in Haiti, Golob is an example of Frontier’s commitment to hiring military veterans. Veterans, reservists and their families represent one of every 10 Frontier employees. Joining the military after receiving a college scholarship, Golob has 21 years of experience in military communications and special operations. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army’s Command and General Staff College and the National Security Agency’s Cryptologic Career Program. The Albia, Iowa native holds a Doctorate in Organization and Management from Capella University, an MBA from Central Michigan University, and a Bachelor’s from Iowa State University. Golob will reside in Camas, Wash.
