Summer Student Season at FGC UES Facilities is Over

14 student construction teams with a total of 179 people representing 13 universities of different Russian regions worked at FGC UES facilities in summer 2017. It was the eighth season. Working at the newly constructed and existing facilities of FGC UES students had the opportunity to develop their practical skills.

The teams took part in the construction of a 500 kV substation in the Bryansk region, two high-voltage power lines (500-750 kV) in the Rostov and Leningrad regions, as well as of a control and switching point of a 500 kV high voltage line in the Tyumen region. They also performed auxiliary work at operating FGC UES substations in the Moscow region, Krasnoyarsk, Saransk, Samara, Yekaterinburg, Magnitogorsk and Perm.

The activity of student teams was connected with support assembling, concrete placement for gantry foundation, as well as cabling and channel installation. Students worked with technical documentation, carried out production and fire safety measures at facilities.

At off-work time, sports and sightseeing activities were organized for team members.

Over the past eight years, 2,500 students from 39 higher and secondary educational institutions have been members of FGC UES construction teams. They worked at more than 100 power facilities throughout the country. The key role for the student movement played Moscow Power Engineering Institute that gave second birth to the practice back in 2010. This year, the university was represented by 650 young people.

In May 2017, FGC UES' student construction team project won 'The Best Social Project of Russia' award. The contest is held annually by the Social Projects foundation in cooperation with the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, the Government of Moscow and Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
