Tokyo, October 24, 2016-Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. (TSE:6504) ('FE'), headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, led by President Michihiro Kitazawa, is pleased to announce the release of its 'UPS7300WX-T3U' high capacity Uninterruptible Power Supply (hereinafter, UPS) that is equipped with SiC Power Semiconductor, in order to enhance its power supply business in North America.

1.Background Because of the global growth in demand for data centers caused by the information systems moving to the cloud system and the introduction of the IoT , data center construction is expanding in North America. UPSs are useful for data centers because the data centers need to supply power continually, and UPSs can supply a stable power even in the power failure by the internal storage batteries.
The North American UPS market was about 1 billion USD in 2015, and an annual growth rate of more than 3% is expected from 2016 - 2020 .
Power consumption has been increasing rapidly with the progress in high-performance and high-capacity servers at data centers, calling for energy saving measures for the equipment. Our UPS7300WX-T3U contributes to energy conservation, as it is equipped with SiC power semiconductor , and achieves the highest level of equipment conversion efficiency in the industry.

*2 Source: IHS Technology
*3 This SiC power semiconductor device applies the fruits of joint research with the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) at the 'Tsukuba Power Electronics Constellation (TPEC),' which Fuji Electric has participated in since fiscal 2012.

2.Product Features

1)Equipped with SiC power semiconductor, achieving the highest level of equipment conversion efficiency in the industry

Equipped with SiC power semiconductor developed by Fuji Electric, proprietary Fuji Electric technology Reverse Blocking IGBT (RB-IGBT), and applying a 'three-level power conversion circuit,' this UPS achieves the highest leveled equipment conversion efficiency, 97.5%. In addition, even with a low load (when the load factor is 25%), the UPS achieves 96.3% equipment conversion efficiency, reducing power loss and contributing to energy saving.

2)Modular structure with the multiple connections
(Product's supports planned for fiscal 2017)

With its modular structure, this UPS enables you to combine multiple 300 kVA UPS units. In this way, the product meets the demand for enhancement at data centers.

3)Equipped with ECO Mode, which reduces power loss

Equipped with ECO Mode, this UPS reduces power loss (see figure below) by supplying commercial power supply directly to customers' equipment when the AC input (commercial power supply) is stable. In the event of a disruption in the commercial supply, the equipment is automatically switched to the UPS power supply (inverter power supply), and power is continually supplied to the equipment.

[ ECO Mode ]

◇Inverter power supply
Enables power supply with stable frequency and voltage. Power loss occurs, however, as power conversion (AC → DC → AC) is performed in the rectifier and inverter.

*The solid line means having the electric current and the dotted line means having no electric current.

◇ECO Mode power supply
High-efficiency power supply can be achieved by supplying commercial power directly (bypass) without the rectifier and inverter. However, this causes the impacts of variations in the frequency of the commercial power supply.

*The solid line means having the electric current and the dotted line means having no electric current.
