Tokyo, May 9, 2012 - Fujitsu today announced "My Cloud," a revolutionary new concept for PCs. In aiming to bring about a human centric intelligent society, the announcement is part of Fujitsu's continued efforts to create a prosperous future through a wide range of transformational technologies.

Based on Fujitsu's human-centric approach of placing top emphasis on the user, My Cloud will offer customers a new kind of user experience.

My Cloud will take advantage of Fujitsu's portfolio of transformational technologies-both past and future-and will present new possibilities for employing cloud computing.

Background and Goals

Compared with other kinds of personal devices, PCs boast a significant number of advantages, such as advanced processing capabilities thanks to high-performance CPUs, high-capacity storage media and scalability through the use of a variety of peripheral devices. However, most users do not take advantage of these advanced computing capabilities, but rather mainly use PCs for Internet applications such as browsing the web or checking e-mail. At the same time, customers are inundated by digital data and various digital devices and services, which can make it very tiresome to find what one is looking for or accomplish what one wants. In order to improve convenience in users' everyday lives, Fujitsu is presenting My Cloud, a new concept and role for PCs that takes full advantage of their latent potential.

About My Cloud

Not simply a hardware offering, My Cloud is a solution that brings together hardware, software and services to make users' lives more convenient, simple and secure. With My Cloud, all of the data scattered throughout a customer's household can be automatically collected and organized in an easy-to-use fashion. Moreover, by connecting to different cloud services, users can open up a wide range of different ways to enjoy their digital data.

My Cloud's Two Modules

My Cloud is comprised of two modules: "My Cloud P," which allows users to collect and utilize the large amount of data scattered throughout their houses, and "My Cloud S," which gathers together a number of safe and secure cloud services. The two modules are linked at home and in the cloud, offering users an optimized service in which there is no need to distinguish between data on hand and data in the cloud.

For example, My Cloud P can easily transfer all the photo data stored across the user's hard drives, digital cameras and smartphones to a PC, while automatically organizing the data along the way for greater user convenience. In addition, My Cloud S is interlinked with a variety of cloud services, making it easy to backup exclusively the user's favorite photos to a net storage platform or make a CD album. In addition to offering new ways to utilize and enjoy latent customer data, My Cloud makes it possible to naturally and easily accomplish the tasks that one wants to do.

Through My Cloud, which leverages the potential of PCs in combination with software and services, customers no longer have to perform labor-intensive device and data operations and management, and instead can focus purely on enjoying the activities that matter the most. Customers will also be able to receive suggestions from My Cloud that meet their individual needs. In addition to the recently announced FMV Summer 2012 models, the solution will be incorporated into a wide variety of future FMV products. Fujitsu's My Cloud opens up the door to a world of new possibilities for enjoying cloud computing.
