Fujitsu Laboratories of America today announced that it will host its 8th annual Fujitsu Laboratories of America Technology Symposium (FLATS) in Mountain View, California. FLATS is an annual invitation-only event where Fujitsu Laboratories of America brings together the best minds from industry, academia and government to discuss future developments in technology and their impact. The theme this year is “The Changing Landscape of Innovation: Open, Shared and Democratized,” with keynote speeches, presentations and panel sessions to discuss the transformation of the innovation process, from new idea generation to open source software development, additive manufacturing and crowd funding/sourcing.

Altering how people and companies design, build, sell and provide new products and services, these new approaches are lowering the cost of entry for new businesses and challenging established B2B and B2C relationships. The symposium will delve into the lifecycle of this new “collaborative economy” and how people, businesses and societies throughout the world can participate and benefit.

“We are entering a new era of how products and services are created and monetized,” said Yasunori Kimura, president and CEO of Fujitsu Laboratories of America. “We are pleased to host this symposium to discuss these paradigm shifts and learn how enterprises can prepare to take advantage of the unique opportunities they present.”

Speakers at the technology symposium include leaders from the industry and academia. including 3D Systems, Amazon, Cloudera, CryptoCorp (Bitcoin), Facebook, Flextronics Lab IX, Fujitsu, Indiegogo, The Linux Foundation, McKinsey Global Institute, Mozilla, oDesk, RocketSpace, TechShop, Thomas Jefferson School of Law and UC Berkeley.
