G4S Indonesia has deployed technology that can predict security breaches before they happen under a two-year agreement to safeguard more than 120 sites for Philip Morris Indonesia and it's subsidiary PT HM Sampoera, manufacturers of tobacco in the country.

G4S Indonesia is using a large number of handheld devices installed with its Secure 360 application, which provide live security feeds to the national control room in Jakarta. The tablet-based programme was developed by G4S to be used by security officers.

At the control room, the G4S team is able to provide an enhanced response capability through the ability to analyse, assess and remotely supervise security risks and incidents before they develop, all giving the client greater confidence.

This plays a vital role in preventing the main threats facing the manufacturing plants, warehouses and offices in the form of theft, trespassing, traffic accidents and fire.

G4S Indonesia senior account manager Roy Rochadhy said: 'This is an example of us making use of our experience and cutting-edge technology to tailor our security provision accordingly to protect our customers' people and assets.'

'Secure 360 is able to prevent security breaches by recording the observable events that precede a breach. By escalating real-time reports and pictures via the application it allows us to anticipate a possible forthcoming event and take the right action.'

The contract is G4S Indonesia's biggest by the number of guards deployed and the team experienced zero issues during the mobilisation period.

Secure 360: the key features

  • Guard tours - recording patrols by scanning checkpoints at key locations, capturing real-time information and monitoring security activities on the site. In addition, generates tour compliance and analysis reports.
  • Inspections - logging routine or surprise inspections.
  • Incident reporting - reporting incidents and sending email/SMS alerts to stakeholders.
  • Panic button - sending alert notifications in any alarming situation.
  • Patrol response - ad hoc task initiated by a supervisor or control room.
  • Geofencing - using GPS to define the geographical boundaries of a site.
  • Mass attendance - capturing field employee attendance electronically and thus avoiding manual error.
  • Aids timely invoice and salary preparation with minimum manual intervention.
