GameStop, a family of specialty retail brands that makes the most popular technologies affordable and simple, today revealed its plans to hire more than 28,000 seasonal associates nationwide as the company prepares for the upcoming holiday shopping season.

This year’s total number of seasonal hires represents an increase of approximately 12% when compared to the same period in 2014. The increase signifies GameStop’s commitment to providing exceptional service during the holidays, as the retailer gears up to provide unique and lasting solutions for every holiday customer, including new and pre-owned video game products, and collectible items sure to be on everyone’s wish list.

“Providing exceptional customer service is the cornerstone of GameStop’s promise to make our customers’ favorite technologies affordable and simple,” said Lisa Keglovitz, vice president of human resources for GameStop. “Hiring an additional 28,000 seasonal associates will ensure we are appropriately staffed to meet our customers’ needs this holiday.”

To manage the breadth of anticipated holiday demand, GameStop is recruiting for in-store Sales and Service Advisors, consumer electronic technicians within its refurbishment operation center (ROC), and warehouse personnel for the company’s two distribution centers based in Grapevine, Texas and Louisville, Kentucky.

GameStop’s recruiting efforts for identifying and hiring talented, hardworking and passionate employees for this holiday season are scheduled to begin in the next few days, and continue until the end of October.
