Attendees will also learn about several new Connect IQ apps being launched at the Summit, including apps from MySwimPro, Trailforks, Yelp, iHeartRadio and GUTM.

“Connect IQ is ever-expanding in growth and popularity, and we’re excited to host our developers to share firsthand the improvements and the upcoming features they can take advantage of in their apps,” said Dan Bartel, Garmin vice president of global consumer sales. “Having so much talent, creativity and innovation in attendance at this year’s Summit inspires us. We look forward to what they will create with the new platform enhancements.”

Garmin is launching Connect IQ 3.0, the latest edition of their industry leading open platform for third-party developers to create experiences for Garmin wearables, bike computers and outdoor handhelds enabled on over 30 unique Garmin product lines. Since its inception three years ago, there have been more than 54 million Connect IQ app downloads to more than 8 million compatible devices1 that have shipped around the world. Connect IQ 3.0 opens up Garmin’s audio player platform, enabling third parties to integrate music, podcast, audio book, and other content into compatible Garmin devices. Developers will also be able to integrate Garmin’s onboard maps into their apps, and work with an expanded notification system.

Among this year’s Summit attendees are current Connect IQ app developers as well as representatives from companies including Strava, TrainingPeaksTM, Tile®, Trek and Stryd. This year’s Summit sponsors are Nordic Semiconductor, HERE, Mastercard, GU and Skullcandy. As part of the Summit, brands and developers alike will learn about several exciting new apps being announced. The MySwimPro app will help swimmers take their training to the next level with six, eight, and 12-week personalized training plans. The new Yelp by Garmin app for Edge bike computers is ideal for the casual cyclist looking for a place to ride for lunch and gives users access to Yelp’s extensive point of interest database with routes to each location. The Trailforks apps allow users to seamlessly download favorite mountain biking routes and trails to their compatible Edge device. Music lovers will fall hard for the new iHeartRadio app which lets premium iHeartRadio subscribers sync their playlists to their music-enabled wearable for on-the-go listening, no phone required. The GU Data Field 2.0 keeps athletes feeling their best by alerting users when to take a packet of GU during their ride or run. In the new GU Data Field 2.0 version, the intelligence of the reminder logic has been upgraded to take the athlete’s exertion into account.
