• Gas Natural Fenosa is renewing its support of the San Sebastian Film Festival and presenting 'Proyecto Tiempo', a feature film directed by Isabel Coixet and produced by the power company as part of its Cinergía initiative, which seeks to inform about energy saving and efficiency.
  • The film consists of four parts (shorts) and the first part will be released at the next San Sebastian Film Festival.

The Managing Director of Institutional Communication and Relations of GAS NATURAL FENOSA, Jordi Garcia Tabernero, this morning announced the renewal of the power company's agreement to support - for the six year running - the San Sebastian Film Festival, which he signed with the event director, José Luis Rebordinos, and announced that the next edition of the festival will be used to present the first part of the Cinergía production he is working on with the director Isabel Coixet to inform the public about energy saving and efficiency.

At the event, the power company presented the details of what is its second feature film, 'Proyecto Tiempo', a film directed by Isabel Coixet, the Spanish director with the most Goya Awards (5), and starring Pablo Rivero, who also attended the event.

Jordi Garcia Tabernero said that 'it gives me great pride to announce the renewal of our support for the San Sebastian Film Festival, the most prestigious in Spain and an international benchmark, as well as to announce the details of the fourth Cinergía, our most iconic project in the field of cinema, which only a few days ago received five Soles at the Ibero-American Advertising Communication Festival'.

'Proyecto Tiempo', directed by Isabel Coixet from Barcelona, consists of four intertwined and independent parts. The first part will be released in September, at the San Sebastian Film Festival. For this year's event, in which the El Terrat production company and Arena Media agency are again involved, it should be noted that the public has played a large role and been able to customise certain key details of the filming via the company's cinema social networks.

The film was made in Barcelona and the surrounding areas with a cast made up by Carmen Machi, Lluís Homar, Miguel Ángel Muñoz, Charlotte Vega, Óscar Casas, Laia Manzanares, Pablo Rivero, Belén Cuesta, Cristina Castaño, Adrià Collado, Hiba Abouk, Úrsula Corberó, Aitor Luna, Joel Bramona, Brays Efe and Mariona Terés.

'Proyecto Tiempo', with the mark of Isabel Coixet

The film entitled 'Proyecto Tiempo' is set in the future to reflect that it deals with an evolved and aware society in terms of energy efficiency, as well as the two faces of medium-term technological progress. In this evolved society, a biochip is implanted into their brains of all new-born babies around the world and represents cutting-edge technology in 2069. The star, scientist Pablo Andrade, has an obsessive dream affected by a series of dark family secrets that will be revealed over the course of 50 years.

'Proyecto Tiempo. Parte I: La Llave' is the first part of the film that will be presented at the next San Sebastian Film Festival (22-30 September). It stars Úrsula Corberó, Aitor Luna, Joel Bramona and Brays Efe. With his family, the young Pablo Andrade is visiting an escape room run by a peculiar character, Captain Level 7.To escape in time, they need to find clues and solve puzzles related to energy efficiency.But Alma eventually changes the rules of the game.

A leap through time later and we are in 'Proyecto Tiempo. Parte II: La Cura'. This time starring Carmen Machi, Pablo Rivero, Belén Cuesta and Hiba Abouk. Pablo Andrade is a promising out-of-work scientist obsessed with finding a cure for his mother's (Alma) brain, who recently suffered a stroke. However, the cure not only returns the brain to its original state but also improves it.And when Hugo is born, Alma is convinced of what needs to be done…

'Proyecto Tiempo. Parte III: El juego', stars Carmen Machi, Lluís Homar, Óscar Casas, Laia Manzanares, Cristina Castaño and Adrià Collado. Hugo Andrade is a teenager who loves playing an augmented reality game called Final Game. The game enables the negative energy from crimes that took in the past to be captured and rechannelled through a device called Energyplay.One day, Hugo adjusts it to be more sensitive and leads him to discover a crime he wasn't ready for.

The final part, 'Proyecto Tiempo. Parte IV: Brainstart', stars Carmen Machi, Lluís Homar, Miguel Ángel Muñoz, Charlotte Vega and Mariona Terés. In 2069, the brains of all new-born babies and implanted with Brainstart, a biochip that provides access to universal knowledge. Its inventor, Pablo Andrade, used his own son, Hugo, as a guinea pig, known to the whole world as The Pioneer. Years later, Hugo is going to be a father for the first time. However, his wife, Eva, refuses to allow her baby to have Brainstart implanted.The final part of Cinergía IV promises to have us on the edge of our seats until the very end, with a twist that will reveal the whole truth about the Andrade family.

Global recognition for CINERGÍA

The first three editions have achieved a level of notoriety that reflects the success of this initiative to date: over 53 million views on television and Internet (of those, 32 million are due to the record number of views for the third edition), an increase of 23.5% in chatter about energy efficiency and approximately 80,000 fans on the social media networks.

Cinergía has also received backing from the communication and marketing sector. The latest awards include five Soles at the last Ibero-American Advertising Communication Festival and the golds for Branded Content and Transmedia Campaigns at the IAB Inspirational Awards. Furthermore, Cinergía received a Silver and Bronze in the 'Efficiency in the Media' category of the Spanish Association of Advertisers' and the CultHunting Award for best corporate project linked to art and innovation.
